Our warmest thanks Thank you for your donation to Hand in Hand India’s Village Uplift Programme. Because of your generosity, Arasanimangalam will be transformed. A hundred small enterprises will be created, empowering hundreds of local women. All children will be enrolled in schools. Scores of villagers will receive professional medical attention; others will learn to farm their crops sustainably, without relying on fertilizers. Your Panchayat Welcome to Arasanimangalam, Kanchipuram District, your village panchayat. Located 62 miles (100 kms) from Chennai, this village with a population of 1500 (approximately) in the southern Indian State of Tamil Nadu relies on agriculture as the main occupation. Toilets are scarce – the result, in part, of a huge dearth of education in health and sanitation. And children are often forced by poverty into working instead of attending school. But not for long. To boost income and strengthen local businesses, Hand in Hand India will mobilise women and provide adult literacy as well as entrepreneurship training in combination with micro finance over the next 24 months. Additional vocational training will be provided to those who require it. And 100 percent of children will be enrolled and retained in school. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Chennai,+Tamil+Nadu,+India/Uttiramerur,+Ta mil+Nadu,+India/@12.8442484,79.7272936,10z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m13!4m12!1m 5!1m1!1s0x3a5265ea4f7d3361:0x6e61a70b6863d433! We hope you will come and visit your village. If you do, you’ll find lots of interest nearby. Located 32 miles away from the village, Kancheepuram town is a city of magnificent ancient temples renowned for its architectural splendor. The town is also a centre of silk weaving.
