multi-service providers, there is an ongoing challenge to educate the marketplace about what the brand stands for now and for the future. Some additional specific observations can be made about the 2018 results. Mitie, which has tended in past years to be a strong contender for the top slot in our ‘Top Ten’ charts, has this year slipped down one, two or three places – not surprising, as it has been battling in recent times to stabilise and re-establish itself. On that same logic, Interserve is to be found in the bottom half of each ranking. In contrast, the regular appearance of Macro and JLL in the bottom half of the rankings – both of which seemed inclined to be overlooked in the past – may suggest they are gaining more traction in market perception. Interestingly, if we hadn’t excluded it from consideration Carillion would have figured in the ‘most visible’ list. It was undeniably highly visible for much of the past year, but we felt brand assessment should be restricted to companies that are still in business. And in connection with an ongoing and often thriving market, we must emphasise that associated with each survey question there are a number of ‘near misses’ - that is, companies named multiple times in the results but not in sufficient number to make the Top Tens charts. These included (in alphabetical order) Bouygues E&S, Cloudfm, Emcor, Incentive FM, NG Bailey and Serco. Top FM brands Thinking of the industry overall, who do you regard as the top service providers?
